In 2018, Mark Curtis, CEO of Tiltex Australia saw a need for better flexibility, greater flexural strength & anti-cracking benefits by adding a special Basalt fibre to Tiltex’s rapid setting, 80MPa compressive strength cement combined with a sand aggregate mix with needle punched reinforcement of carrier fabrics to form a flexible, impermeable cementitious wide width material. The Tiltex B range was developed.

Tiltex B (B for Basalt) GCCM range is the ONLY GCCM with an addition of a basalt fibre enhancement which provides the GCCM with higher flexural strength (16.1*MPa), durability & better survivability in hyper-cold and hot climatic conditions.

TILTEX B ANTI CRACKING GCCM NORTHERN TERRITORY DEFENCE PROJECT 

 Floodwater from storm cells and wet seasons events in the Northern Territory can lead to road infrastructure damage that service Australian Defence operations and civilian road access.

 Tiltex Australia’s 12B Basalt fibre enhanced GCCM was approved by Defence to be fixed to the road concrete pavement surface and adjacent ground on the upstream and downstream side.  Tiltex 12B’s purpose is to protect the road concrete pavement from floodwater scouring and erosion to minimize damage, loss of road access and subsequent rectification costs. 

 Tiltex 12B 80MPa Compressive Strength and 16.1MPa flexural strength properties provided the quality GCCM protection that Defence required.

Our Tiltex Australia installation crew installed 8000 sq m of Tiltex 12B to Defence road infrastructure where impacted by floodways. 

 Our engineers designed the installation to not require multiple seaming as required by narrow width GCCMs.  Approximately 1.4kms of stainless steel flatbar and over 5,000 anchor fixing screws were used to ensure the Tiltex 12B material’s edge was fixed to the concrete pavement and was able to withstand flood conditions that occur in the area.

 For the Tiltex 12B GCCM end of roll seam joint we use our exclusive STAB 40 adhesive bonding achieving 39kN/m tensile strength.

Tiltex Australia’s installation team have just completed a major water infiltration barrier & erosion control to the ROM Wall Crusher A project at Ironbridge Mine, Pilbara WA. Our team installed Tiltex 12B Anti Cracking 80 MPa Compressive Strength GCCM over 50 metre+ long steep batters at 1V:1.6H, secured with our soil anchor grid system designed to endure 50m/sec winds.

Tiltex 12B GCCM was specified for covering slopes above the ROM Wall and its primary design is to inhibit water infiltration behind the metal facing wall panels and provide ground surface erosion protection of batter slopes. The project involved deploying the Tiltex 12B’s 5 metre wide x 20 metre long rolls longitudinally down the steep batters and seaming with our unique Tiltex B STAB 40 seaming system. Installing a soil anchor grid system at 2 metre grid pattern and perimeter soil anchors at 0.5 metre spacing.

Hydrating Tiltex 12B GCCM on steep slopes is achievable with our exclusive Saturation Hydrator apparatus to provide an even distribution of water through Tiltex 12B’s matrix structure to ensure no unset cement and to initiate curing to 80 MPa Compressive Strength and 16.1 MPa* Flexural Strength properties.

The erosion control market is changing with the introduction of an increased variety of GCCM’s (Geosynthetic Cementitious Concrete Mat) entering the worldwide market.

This was further aided at the time of installation with our “ live”  real time installation guidance, ensuring the client was confident and compliant to install and hydrated Tiltex B to obtain the best product efficacy due to the correct installation and hydration.

TILTEX INTRODUCES EXCLUSIVE SATURATION HYDRATOR

Tiltex is excited to announce that our engineers have designed an exclusive Tiltex Saturation Hydrator machine that is used to uniformly hydrate Tiltex after it's installation.

Water is evenly distributed throughout the entire roll in a uniform, measured way to ensure an even distribution of water onto the surface. This will soak in and hydrate evenly the product to ensure efficacy and uniform curing properties.
